Current and upcoming construction activity
Anticipated activities at the project site at Lillooet Lake Estates in the coming weeks include:
- Trucks hauling logs above and below the In-SHUCK-ch Forest Service Road (FSR).
- Excavation of Catiline Creek above and below the FSR.
- Berm construction beside the FSR on either side of Catiline Creek.
- Rock trucks hauling excavated materials around 7.5 k for berm construction, and from the project site at 7.5k to road realignment site at 6.5k.
- Open burning to remove piles resulting from tree clearing activities above and below the FSR. Smoke from piles may be visible to surrounding communities and travelers on the FSR. Pile burning will only proceed if conditions are favourable. This work is being undertaken by Coastal Mountain Excavations Ltd. (CME).
In-SHUCK-ch Forest Service Road impacts
Short‑Distance Hauling on FSR
Location: 6.0 km to 7.5 km
Dates: February 17 to approximately March 13, 2026
Daily hours: Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
What’s happening:
Hauling will take place over a short stretch of the FSR. Trucks will move fill from the Catiline Creek Debris Flow Mitigation project site at 7.5 km to a road realignment project site at 6.5 km. The road realignment project is being managed by the Ministry of Forests.
What to expect:
- High volume of industrial traffic from 6.0 km to 7.5 km.
- Loaded highway rock trucks on the FSR. Trucks will be loaded travelling from 7.5 km to 6.5 km, returning empty.
- Additional traffic control including flaggers and signage
- Week 1 from February 17 - 20, 2026: Short holds up to 15 minutes at 6.5 km to facilitate trucks turning around on the FSR.
- Weeks 2 to 4 from February 23 – March 13, 2026: Longer holds up to one hour may be required at 6.5 km as work progresses. If one hour holds are implemented, openings will be at the top of each hour.
Safety reminders
- Follow the direction of flaggers and signage, and drive with caution.
- Give trucks extra space, especially on hills and corners.
- Avoid stopping within the signed work zone unless directed.
2. Increased Construction Traffic on FSR around Lillooet Lake Estates
Location: 7.5 km
Dates: February through to end of project.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
What’s happening:
Construction of the Catiline Creek debris flow structure at Lillooet Lake Estates at 7.5 km. Construction activities including excavation of the creek channel and berm construction will be happening near the FSR.
What to expect:
- Rock trucks hauling excavated materials for berm construction beside Catiline Creek at 7.5 km.
- Increased industrial traffic, with contractors’ vehicles and equipment in the area.
- Additional traffic control measures including signage.
3. Upcoming Work: FSR Bridge Replacement at Catiline Creek, with Temporary Bridge and Bypass
Location: Catiline Creek at 7.5 km
Dates: The window for this work is between April 1 and July 1 2026. Exact timing remains to be determined.
What’s happening:
- The Catiline Creek FSR bridge at 7.5 km on the In-SHUCK-ch FSR is being replaced. The bridge replacement is being carried out by the Ministry of Forests.
- To maintain traffic flow on the FSR a temporary bypass and bridge will be put in place. The temporary bypass and bridge will be put in place by the SLRD’s contractors Coastal Mountain Excavations Ltd. (CME).
