This page will provide up-to-date information about construction activities related to the Catiline Creek Debris Flow Mitigation Project at Lillooet Lake Estates, located in Electoral Area C. Please check back regularly for updates.

Construction updates

April 10, 2026

Anticipated activities at the project site at Lillooet Lake Estates in the coming weeks include:

  • Open burning to remove piles resulting from tree clearing activities above and below the FSR. Smoke from piles may be visible to surrounding communities and travelers on the In-SHUCK-ch Forest Service Road. Pile burning will only proceed if conditions are favourable. 
  • A temporary bridge and bypass for FSR traffic is now in place. More information on traffic flow is available in the road updates section below. 
  • Trucks hauling logs above and below the FSR
  • Excavation of Catiline Creek above and below the FSR  and through the FSR right of way
  • Berm construction above and beside the FSR on either side of Catiline Creek
  • Rock trucks hauling excavated materials around 7.5 k for berm construction
  • Rock trucks hauling excavated materials from the project site at 7.5 k to the Ministry of Forest's road realignment site at 6.5k
  • Removal of the existing Catiline Creek FSR bridge

This work is being undertaken by Coastal Mountain Excavations Ltd. (CME).

In-SHUCK-ch Forest Service Road Impacts

Updates will be provided when new information is available. 

March 27, 2026

Notice amended April 1 to include start date for short-distance hauling on FSR.

1. Upcoming Work: in-SHUCK-ch FSR Bridge Replacement at Catiline Creek, with Temporary Bridge and Bypass  

Location: 7.5 km at Catiline Creek

What’s happening: 

Traffic will be rerouted to a temporary crossing of Catiline Creek to accommodate the excavation of the creek and installation of a new permanent bridge by the Ministry of Forests. 

Dates: 
  • Traffic is anticipated to be directed to the bypass starting April 1, 2026 to July 2026.  
  • The window for the new permanent bridge installation by the Ministry of Forests is Mid April to July. 
What to Expect:
  • No closures or traffic delays are anticipated.
  • A temporary bypass road and temporary bridge will be in place starting from approximately April 1. 
  • The bypass will be located just above the existing bridge in the FSR right of way (see image below).
  • The speed limit through the work zone will be 30 km per hour
  • Expect increased industrial traffic with contractors’ vehicles and equipment in the area 
Who is involved: 
  • The creek excavation and temporary bridge is by the SLRD’s contractors Coastal Mountain Excavations Ltd. (CME) as part of the Catiline Creek Debris Flow Mitigation Project.
  • The new permanent bridge is being installed by the Ministry of Forests.

2. Short‑Distance Hauling on FSR  

Location: 6.0 km to 7.5 km
Dates: Starts up April 7, 2026

What’s happening:

Hauling will resume on April 7 over a short stretch of the FSR. Trucks will move fill from the Catiline Creek Debris Flow Mitigation project site at 7.5 km to a road realignment project site at 6.5 km. The road realignment project is being managed by the Ministry of Forests. 

What to expect:
  • High volume of industrial traffic from 6.0 km to 7.5 km
  • Loaded highway rock trucks on the FSR. Trucks will be loaded travelling from 7.5 km to 6.5 km, returning empty. 
  • Additional traffic control including flaggers and signage

3. Increased Construction Traffic on FSR around Lillooet Lake Estates 

Location: 7.5 km 
Dates: February 2026 through to end of project.
Hours: Monday to Saturday, 7 AM to 5 PM. 

What’s happening:

Construction of the Catiline Creek debris flow structure at Lillooet Lake Estates at 7.5 km. Construction activities including excavation of the creek channel and berm construction will be happening near the FSR. 

What to expect:
  • Rock trucks hauling excavated materials for berm construction beside Catiline Creek (7.5 km) 
  • Increased industrial traffic, with contractors’ vehicles and equipment in the area 
  • Additional traffic control measures including signage

Safety reminders

  • Follow the direction of flaggers and signage, and drive with caution.
  • Give trucks extra space, especially on hills and corners.
  • Avoid stopping within signed work zones unless directed.
